The key

unlocking my days
the past becomes the key
to the present
deep pain
deep wounds
deeply hidden
surface slowly
as the key is turned
and the past is revealed
and seemingly solid foundations
founder
in the revealing
and tears flowing freely
the solid pretence washes away
and
bedrock revealed at last
the present sighs with relief
and settles down firmly
and the unlocking of my days
eases the pain
and the truth of the past
becomes the key to the present
and I am set free at last
