Looking into tomorrow

Leaning over to look into tomorrow
The view makes me dizzy
So many choices
So many decisions
So many possibilities
So many temptations
My head spins at the prospect
Bracing my feet to run
I find the ground
Firm and unyielding
Beneath my feet
And I hesitate
And I wonder
And then I remember
And I stand firm
Recalling your promise
To be my rock
My place of refuge
My fortress and my shield
And my heart is warmed
And my heart is lightened
And my heart is strengthened
And leaning over
Looking into tomorrow
Taking refuge in my stronghold
I find my courage in your love

Falling into tomorrow

I fell into tomorrow
and it turned out to be today!
I opened the present
and today it was most certainly a gift!
Was it all new?
Not all of it
The promise of Jesus was still true in me
and I was still a child of God
beloved and wanted
And the new?
The new was stepping out on the bridge of faith
and finding it firm and strong
just as he said it would be!
The new was trusting
and finding it didn't hurt as much as I expected!

Standing on the edge

Standing on the edge of tomorrow
I lean over and wonder at the view
All this lovely space inviting my thoughts!
All the days ahead inviting my participation
Standing on the edge of tomorrow
I wonder if the present is truly a gift
I wonder if it will all be new
I wonder at the promise of Jesus in me
Standing on the edge of tomorrow
I wonder!
